Key Learnings from our first DEMO Project:
• Data Collection Methods:
The data collection methods, communication protocols, and hardware we selected worked seamlessly, confirming they were well-suited for the project’s needs.
• Data Structure:
The need for proper data structure became clear during analysis, requiring multiple revisions to ensure efficient processing. Structuring data correctly from the start is essential for smooth analysis.
• Redundancy of Internet Connection:
Continuous access to our monitoring devices is crucial. We faced internet outages on-site, showing the need for redundancy. To ensure 24/7 connectivity, we’ll add a SIM card to our VPN router for reliable mobile internet, enabling uninterrupted remote monitoring.
• Error Handling:
Inadequate documentation of source data caused confusion during analysis, as some signals didn’t match expectations, leading to delays. To prevent this, all signals must be thoroughly verified against the electrical schema and source program.
• Collaboration and Communication:
The client’s on-site team was vital to the project’s success, helping us greatly with system behavior inquiries and connection issues.
This project has taught us valuable lessons that will shape our future endeavours. We have already implemented several changes in parallel and plan to introduce more, particularly in the early stages of future projects. These include improvements in data structuring, project management, and the adoption of new technological advancements.
