The Institute for Particle Technology (IPT) at the University of Wuppertal was founded as an in-house institute for research projects from the Department of Safety Engineering / Environmental Protection. Research focuses on the characterisation, avoidance and reduction of fine and ultra-fine dusts. In addition to DFG-funded basic research on filtration and dusting tendencies, the IPT also carries out joint industrial research projects and co-operation projects with industrial partners. Bochum University of Applied Sciences, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences are part of ruhrvalley and realise transdisciplinary research and development projects together with their partners.

Ruhrvalley Start-up-Campus

The ruhrvalley Start-up-Campus is the start-up initiative of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Bochum University of Applied Sciences. We support the start-up ideas of our students, employees and alumni, establish a proactive and innovative start-up culture and connect future founders with SMEs and the start-up ecosystem in the region. We support entrepreneurial thinking and action with experienced coaches and funding programmes, offer ideas competitions, boot camps, makerspaces, academies and regular specialist talks and workshops on start-up-related topics.

VDM

The VDM has represented the interests of the non-ferrous metal wholesale trade and the non-ferrous metal recycling industry since 1908. This includes new metals, scrap metals and strategic special metals. Its more than 230 members represent around 700 companies and branches and cover around 90 per cent of the metal market in Germany and Austria. There are also numerous companies from other European countries. The membership includes smelters and smelting companies as well as traders, recyclers, brokers operating on the London Metal Exchange (LME) and other metal industry specialists. The members of the VDM generate an annual turnover of 39 billion euros, move around 20 million tonnes of metals and employ around 29,000 people. WFZruhr e.V.

The WFZruhr is a voluntary initiative of public and private companies in the recycling and environmental economy. Currently 115 member companies utilise this competence network, which has its roots in the Ruhr region. The members see themselves as technology and system leaders; they cover the entire spectrum of services in the circular economy. We, the WFZruhr team, organise top-class events on the industry’s top topics – real added value for decision-makers!
